The Apila decoration, redesigned by Kerttu Nurminen in 1977, was originally in production as early as the 19th century.

The Apila plates are intact and almost scratch-free; almost all still have the Nuutajärvi sticker. The body of the plates bears the text Nuutajärvi 1893/1977.
